Archiving Outlook Express emails

Click on the Start menu, select Find or Search and click Files or Folders.

In the Named box, enter *.dbx In the Look In box select, or enter, your system hard drive (usually C:). Click Find Now. You should now see a list of your Outlook Express mailbox files. "Inbox.dbx", "Outbox.dbx", "Sent Items.dbx", "Deleted Items.dbx" and "Drafts.dbx". Any additional mail folders you have created in Outlook Express will be displayed with the .mbx extension.

Note the name of the folder containing the mailbox files, then copy them to another location such as a floppy disk, flash drive, CD-rom or an appropriately name folder on your computer. For information on copying files please refer to your Windows help.

If you then need to restore the emails you have backed up from Outlook Express follow these instructions.

Open Outlook Express.

Click File, Go to Import, Click Messages Select Microsoft Outlook Express 5/ 5.5/ 6, (Select depending on your version) and Click Next.

In Specify Location, Select Import mail from an OE5 store directory, Click OK.

Click Browse and specify the location and folder where you saved the .dbx files and Click Next

Select All Folders and Click Next and click Finish.
